Project details
Designing a versatile brand for a historic site
Sinri Shrine, the first doctrine location for Catholicism in Korea, recently opened the Martyrdom Art Museum. While the site is historically significant, it lacked a cohesive brand identity to communicate its story and welcome visitors. The shrine needed a versatile, timeless identity and a website that could showcase its rich history while engaging both local and international audiences.

Creative solution
Transforming history into a modern, memorable identity
I approached the project by turning the silhouette of the most symbolic building into the core of the new logo. To fully understand the site’s history, I visited the shrine and conducted interviews with a father, nuns, and staff, gathering insights that informed the design.
The brand mark highlights the Martyrdom Art Museum, the place that best tells the shrine’s story. The logo incorporates the name in English in a way that allows the mark to stand alone, while still pairing seamlessly with the Korean name when needed.
The result is a brand system that balances timelessness and flexibility, connecting visitors to the history of Sinri Shrine across multiple touchpoints. Visitors can now explore the shrine’s story online, experience it in person, and engage with branded souvenirs that reinforce the identity.
